9th October 2010

Wind Stength: 15-25 - 40-45
Surf / Sea State: flat/choppy
Air Temperature: 16
Sea Temperature:
Weather: sunny spells
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Arrived just after high tide and just about managed to get in passed the cars/vans/campers at the entrance to the estuary.

Impi was coming in as the wind had dropped off. Dave and Sarah were still out using and gusts or stronger spells coming through. So I rigged my biggest 6.4m and big 114ltr board and got out. Had some decent runs on nice flat water. With a very big tide there was a lot of water moving about. After a while it dropped off even more. Later it started to fill in and pick up and soon I was maxed out.

Came in to change down to a 5.8 and wave board as impi was rigging a 6.4 and Al and Steve arrived. Then it went mad so I changed my mind and rigged a 4.5m, should have gone for the 4.0m after a bit of watching to see if it would settle down we went in and tried a few runs in the channel as the tide dropped very low. It was just too much so after just a few runs called it a day! Shallow water, sandbanks and mad wind, dooh!
